Having initially sent our your ‘save the date’ cards to guests, you next step is to formally invite them. This is done through the posting of your wedding invitations, which you will likely have put much thought into choosing. In the past these have been sent out around three months before the planned date, but couples now send them out anything up to five months before. The enclosures that are sent alongside your wedding invitations are just as important. Here’s a guide to what you may want to include with your invitations.
Providing Directions
Failure to include direction cards with your wedding invitations could result in guests getting lost or being unclear as to where they can park their car on arrival. Depending on how many locations your wedding will take place at, you may need to include more than one direction card. It is not unheard of for brides to tailor the direction cards to each individual guest. For example, those travelling long distances will need more details than those who only have a short distance to travel.
RSVP Cards
Arguably the most important part of the wedding invitation (pragmatically speaking anyway) is the response cards. Receiving a response from the guests give the couple a concrete idea as to the exact numbers they need to cater for. As a result they are then able to begin planning other details of the wedding, from the catering plan to the seating arrangements. People tend to go to extreme lengths to attend weddings; however, this isn’t to say some of your hopefuls won’t be able to attend.
The Menu
The final enclosure that it really makes sense to include is the menu so that guests can inform you of which food they would like to eat. Again, this allows for the caterers to prepare the exact quantities of food they require whilst making sure everyone enjoys their meal.
